The Atmosphere
What is it?
The Earth's atmosphere is a thin layer of gases that surrounds the Earth. It composed of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and about 1% of other gases, mostly carbon dioxide (Life Science). Some other gases are water vapor methane, and nitrous oxide (Physical Geography).
Why are there gases?Earth's atmosphere protects life on the planet (NASA). The gases help block the powerful UV radiation from the sun.

What is pressure?Pressure is an expression of force exerted on a surface per unit area.
The pressure of the Earth's atmosphere at sea level is approximately 10 5 Pa. A unit of 100 Pa is known as a millibar (mb). (What is) |
Which gas?In my calculations I used the Ideal Gas Law. The ideal gas law is the equation of state of a hypothetical ideal gas.
I found that oxygen needed the least amount of moles to fill the troposphere. Also, oxygen is the most important element for life to exist. |
